Walt Disney's greatest characters Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Uncle Scrooge and many more are perhaps the most loved and iconic comic characters of the world. Like the world they are also extremely loved by Indians too and this love resulted in many publications printing Walt Disney comics in our country.

After a brief run in Indrajal Issues, the first real attempt came as Walt Disney's Wonder World in Chandamama Classics and Comics. Although a success run, it stopped its run in about 2 years duration.
Then in 1988, the scenario changed when Living Media India Ltd., a publication house from New Delhi acquired the license to print Walt Disney comics started the tremendously successful Disney Today (Also tagged as LM Comics). With Disney Today, we saw the sincere, honest and rich attempt to bring the glorified characters in print pages in India. With full size pages printed with excellent clarity and freshness, the world of Disney really got its place in comics format for the masses of India.

Though the Disney Today ran only about 6 years and ended in 1993 with around 150 issues printed, they are still the best Walt Disney Comics in India and one of the most sought after.

After  Disney Today many attempt are being made - especially by Indian Express & Egmont, and by Diamond Pocket Books as Junior Diamond but none celebrated the characters to the ecstasy the Disney Today had. Here I will also add that Diamond Comics too acquired the rights to print some of the lesser known Disney Characters like Chip 'n' Dale and The Bad Wolf which used to be printed in Paltu Comics Magazine.

Format - The Disney Today was printed in Full Size with 28 colourful pages (32 if the covers will be included)

Language(s) - Disney Today was published in Hindi & English languages.

Pricing policy - The 1988 - mid 1990's issues used to have the 4.00 Rs. Price tag, which later raised to Rs. 5.00 in mid 1990 which continued till the end of 1992. In 1993 the price took a 2/- jump and finally settled for Rs. 7.00 till the end of the year and publication.
(Please note - the above prices are for Hindi version, the English versions used to have One Rupee extra prices being 5/-, 6/- and 8/- per issues)

Frequency - Disney Today used to published bi-monthly ( 2 times in a month). The first monthly issue appeared in 15th day of the related month and the second issue came in the last day of the month (i.e. 28,29,30 or 31th day as applicable)

Numbering Policy - Disney Today employed the 4 digit numbering policy. The first 2 digits represented the year, and the last 2 digits represented the issue number.
For instance - the issue published on 31st July of 1990 will be the 14th issue of that year. so he number will be 9014. (Got it ?, fairy simple!)

The Characters - Disney Today celebrated the most loved characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Uncle Scrooge McDuck, Gladstone, Gyro Gearloose, Donald's Nephew Huey-Dewey-Louie, Lauchpad, chid and dale, the bad wolf etc with grace.

I was a great fan of Disney Today comics. I have grown up reading each edition at least a 20 times. It was my folly to give them away to "can't remember who". Now, I have a 5 yr old and i badly want her to enjoy these comics. Would you know where I can find them? Please mail me at
